One of the things that always got me about the games old trailers and cinematic stuff was the opening sections. All of them always opened from a black screen into action.......and in the bottom corner of every trailer was the following.
Region Constellation System Stain // Q416-2 // QM-07J
or
Intaki VI - Tranquil District 19 Hours after Deployment
It was context. I liked the context of the fights......it's context that gives battles meaning and that was what appealed to me. Knowing where you were in New Eden from Region, System, Planet, District....... how long has your battle been going on for, etc.
My dream day in Dust 514/ Legion would be this
- Login in and checking my Corporate Messages... Oh is that Lord Admiral Gavin Lok'ri asking for all PLCAS soldiers to deploy to Arzad in preparation for a Minmatar Offensive? - Jumps into PIE Ground Control.... Oh fantastic the MOTD has been updated letting everyone in the channel know that new AO with primary and secondary objectives and goals. - We put together a squad or patrol and select our battlefield down to the District letting our pilots know well ahead of time where we are going to be so they can store X orbital ships in system for quick refits. - We deploy to the battlefields on Arzad to persistent districts and can fight there specifically until X goal is achieved and the system has reached Y VP modifier. -Job done well all go home knowing we actually helped EVE pilots with something and had clear achievable goals.
To be honest no war in Dust 514 ever has to be about region sweeping conquest....... its the small one going and enduring stuff like the "Arzad Front" or the "District VI Parallel" that we players can create for ourselves than makes this stuff worth fighting for.
Anyone remember when God's Architect composed and entire narrative to the fighting in PC?
O.H's capital planet of Praetoria, the bombings and week long battles across the surface of SVER Prime, fiction units and places, etc.
That was context to player generated content.
I said, "Empress, I do this, I thought that you knew this.
Can't stand non-believers and honest, the truth is...
